Well it has been another month of steady progress for team DoI. I believe Azaz and Mitt have come up with a release schedule of updates and Lyra is working feverishly on the website trying to get as much out as we can about our progress.

We have a development wiki.. and yes some have even inadvertently registered on them. To you that have, it is for staff eyes only and will remain as such until after final release when I think that showing you truly where we started from would be fairly cool. Right now it is a developmental tool and will only be available to the staff.

We also have a promotion and addition to our staff.

Azaz has been a long time member of the staff and has been promoted to Admin to help me with organization stuff. I can't do everything myself, so I called in reinforcements to make things move along a little faster.

Snerf- The developer of Ice Chat IRC client, and a personal friend of many of the staff, has offered to help with the game. He is specifically working with Lokku/Lor on the chat interfaces and such. (or as I planned it. God knows what the heck those devs are really doing in there). All said we are very excited to have him come aboard and help with this.

For those that do not know the IceChat client, it is the primary supported chat client that we use to connect to IRC ourselves and is available for Download for anyone here:

Well things are still moving forward and we hope to get some more info via the website soon enough.

I am at a loss for much to say, however, I think in the development teaser forum it says everything for me from here.

Hey all you Iskirrians

Well I have to admit, I am very excited to still enjoy the level of support so many of you have shown to the staff of DoI and to myself. Your faith in what we are going to be able to achieve is phenominal, though with that said please don't think less of us when we can't implement everything that you all have suggested

I am truly impressed with the thought and time that many of you have put into coming up with suggestions, numbers, ideas.... so many things (albeit a bit long winded some of you

).. I just wanted to say Thank you.... to all of you that continue to drive us... pushing us forward when we get to a point where we aren't sure what we want to do or how. So I start the new year 2010, saying thank you to all of you.

When RoE was closed down, I was pretty crushed. I was also determined that we would not let such a great community go to pasture despite how others felt about it. I made a commitment to each and every one of us to just DO SOMETHING about it. In so saying I was pleasantly surprised when not only the existing staff, but also some of our long lost family came back to join in this project. It gave me hope that we would prevail once again despite the adversity of those that just did not understand the truly incredible dynamic that was/is our community. I love each and every one of you... yes... even the Pains in my ass... *cough* Balgal.... Hawk *cough* without each of you DoI would just be another concept that would fall short of its true potential. So from the bottom of my heart.... THANK YOU... all of you... our staff... and our supporters.... and yes even those that keep trying to tell me this can't be done.. To those of you still telling me that.. you have no idea how wrong I am going to endevour to make you

Failure is/was/will never be an option to me. We will continue into this New Year and with the help of some artists we can hopefully bring alot of the concepts to life that our Devs have been working on.

SO for the New Year here is the first update post of the year.

You will notice that soon the IRC link will change. This is because for the past 3 years I used irc.gamers-united.us. The lease on that domain name is coming due, and in an effort to not throw money in a direction I don't need to, I decided to change the address to irc.iskirra.net. This will keep the addressing local to me and will be cheaper long term. This change will not impact much, as the forum link has already been fixed to allow connection through the new domain, and only requires those with an external client of their own (i.e. mIRC or IceChat, HyrdaIRC) to update their links appropriately.

Slam has been working on an intelligent AI. From what we discussed about it, *sigh* you are going to love ... and hate it

Imagine if you will mobs that will "learn" from what you are using against them and change their defenses... or call for help when they are getting the smack down.. or run away and if you follow, there is an ambush behind the tree line. Slam has been really busy with making that work.

Lokku- where do I start... if I start to get slow... he sicks Star on me. Not to mention he has a DB set up that actually allows "gifting" of accounts. So if you have a friend that you want to get an upgraded account for (in the future) that will actually be possible.. something we all wanted in RoE but could never make happen due to limitations placed by a few.

That is just a couple. I won't mention everything the rest of the staff has done, however I will say that we are still working diligently (as time/life) allows to push forward with our project. I did mention artists. We really need them. Lyra has done great things with concept art and ideas and as usual pushes the rest of us slackers to do more as well. She needs help though. We need at least 10 serious artists that understands pretty much what we are looking for. I really need to push that, as it is a stopping point at the moment, and one that I would like to see us overcome in the upcoming months.

Well heck I haven't run out of things to say, but I don't want this to be so long that I become one of those "longwinded* but valuable idea posts

So I will stop here for now and save some update info for the next update.
