Making it gentry only would greatly unbalance the game and I dont think would in the end make RoE more money. We dont wanna head down the path of Knight Online <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

allright, allright, then make it for everyone, but quest bound, thus reputation bound as well.
It means if you do shammy, you can no longer have THE cloak on, unless you hoard it from an alt...but you still need to have it off when opening/closing the quest.

I was expecting the hlaberd players to get all excited over that and go gentry, I mean, it's only on halberd, which is living of grief and despair <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />, wont notice anything of the spells on the other servers.

mostly I just want to have the game completed, BUT, I'm not stating in what timeframe <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> I just want to see it all done, what has been planned on the current list that is, after that I want to see the new new planned stuff in etc. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

----
Reason I make it quest bound then? because otherwise you ll shammy players having the bribe/necro rez etc. you can only obtain about 1/2 of the list, because one spell nulls out the other, so shammy/necro cant be done druidic/sorc etc. the most common negatives.

But the BIGGEST thing I'd like to see is ALL damage done by players cut in half, or even 1/4 what it is now. There is no need for a level 1 to do 100hp in one cast/hit. This would help PvP last longer, it would make the first 20 levels more of a challenge, and even High levels would have more to hunt longer. To balance that perhaps xp could be increased a touch.

I would like to see reduced damages so one takes longer to level, more parties required etc. Reducing all damages would be one way to achieve this. I remember parties in Bane 3 where my ogre armsman with his T4 Poleaxe was the only tank, and we still kicked <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/5butthead.gif" alt="" />. Braids was often also there then. In the game today, a healer isn't really required as one can kill everything so fast with a fotm build. I have done my bit of promoting other than fotm builds, showing many are very powerful builds even if they dont kill as fast. Rubies has so many ways one can develop characters. I have only covered a few in my posts.

For an example I will use a fotm build I made - its dual dagger, mostly solo'n has reached lvl 50. What has it killed in about 70 hours playing?
Shadowlisk 809 kills
Colossal Wasp 643 kills
Goliath Nomeater 472 kills
Hobgoblin 375 kills
Demon Slime 359 kills
Hill Giant 328 kills
Stunted Troll 289 kills
Troll 279 kills
Not much as one can see. Normal battle duration on all but lisks is towards the 10-15 ticks. Yet now it is level 50, hasn't got a heal spell, uses no pickles/rods/pots in combat. Rubies is biased towards fast weapons, so a bit of balance of these I think would help some. Compare how long it takes the dual dagger to drop 1 nom at 10 ticks (prep 1, recover 8, prep 1) vs any non ua/dagger weapon? It is probably a good thing there are so few nomeaters. Even if the nomeaters were the powerful acid bugged monsters of the past, they were no match for dual fotm then, let alone now. While a nomeater battle for a solo polearm/staff etc will take about 50 ticks and be a battle, one can hardly compare this to a fotm dual at 10 ticks? Even Spear with 100% thrust doesn't come close. It doesn't need to be equal, and shouldn't be equal, but more balance (bash vs bash, chop vs chop, slash vs slash, thrust vs thrust in damage/time) would be better. While more teeth to the nomeater to make them tougher will help, it won't be enough if one can still kill them in 10 ticks solo with a dual fotm build.

I think the resources need to be more evenly available. Eg I have been in over 2000 G'ent kills on FO and not seen a single piece of aelfwood drop, and bow/xbows/polearms/staffs/axes/spears/thrown all use wood to some extent. Herbalism post patch may balance this if one can herbalise the high tier woods like one can mine norium. While norium is rare, it is still obtainable - aelfwood is not really obtainable. How many sticks have dropped on FO in the last year for the whole server, probably about 10? One currently makes do with the very rare heartwood instead (about as rare as norium to obtain I think).

Well, to counter the fast biasedness, I (or someone else who did it before me, but I didnt see that then) suggested to have, like x-bows and archery, a damage multiplier that depends on the reach, so that a greatsword will do something like 3x the damage of a knuckle or something, maybe more since it's range is also more then 4 times that of a knuckle.
that sort of equals out the damage per single hit, flurry will still overrule everything unless you really nerf the damage.

But if you combine my suggestion with the initial damage cut Nav suggested, it might work out for the better (otherwise we'd have swords dealing 800Hp/600BP <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Another possibility, a damage modifier on the weight of a weapon. Big heavy weapon does more than small light weapon. It doesn't have to be a linear modifier, just something to give more balance.

The longest reach weapon is the great spear, so along side a dagger might get like huge mods. Again the mods dont have to be linear like reach 20 = 1x, so reach 120 = 6x, might become reach 20 = 1.0x, reach 60 = 1.3x, reach 120 = 1.5x ...

Yeah, I was just poiniting out some POSSIBILITIES, I just gave a base on damage modifiers, I dont really care how/where you place them, I'd just like to see size/weight of weapon depending on damage like things also do in real life, I think I gave a spoon/warhammer wack around the head example somewhere...

some thoughts on the necro rez spell...

make it this way; necro rez spell is possible in or out of combat, for player characters or mobs. for mobs, it is castable in combat only and lasts for the duration of the battle. once battle is done, the rezzed mob's health starts degrading, so it wont last for long (it doesnt degrade as fast in combat). you can only rez mobs that are 2/3rds your level or lower.

for player characters, there should be a consent query (like pickups) and is castable in combat or out of combat. once casted, the player gains a new status icon ('zombified'). the spell lasts for a few ingame hours. the zombified person cannot be healed, cannot cast spells, and intelligence and dexterity drops while strength and constitution increases. weapons are unusable (so barefisted only) and weapon skills dont apply (having UA wont help zombified players). gear and armor cannot be changed for the duration of the zombification. zombified characters also cannot talk to normal NPCs except for healer NPCs. zombified characters who had a maximum MP of 400 or greater (to signify that they are a spellcaster) gains a new combat maneuver for the duration of the zombification that uses mana (call it something along the lines of necrotic touch or something. it is to compensate the lower str and hp of spellcasters that would give them a lower advantage compared to zombified tanks and melee/ranged).

when the zombification expires, the death penalty is doubled (or tripled or quadrupled. anyways, a big increase) and every equipped item suffers a quality decrease (think of it as acidic zombie juice oozing out and corroding your armor). players who expire from zombification cannot be rezzed by normal spells and needs to be rezzed by NPC healers. player characters still have the option to /die and end the curse early. NPC healers cannot cure/rez the zombification unless the player character dies/expires first.

if the zombification is cast in combat, for that duration of that initial combat only the zombified player acts like a pet to the zombificator (the caster) and the zombified player looses control of their character temporaily. they still have the option to use the /die command in that initial combat.

would be cool if there was also vampirism and lycantrophy (lasts only 1 game day and the effects occur at night only). would play somewhat similarly to zombification (although with several differences).

a nice spell for conjuring would be like a crushing rock spell, that makes the mob/character your attacking surrounded by rock that keeps piling up, and if they don't outdamage the pile they stay suck, it's a spell that acts like a mob tongue so if i was to cast it on somebody i could run from battle and the rock would stay hehe

also wouldn't mind seeing an instant death roulette spell that sucks all mana and casts in 3 seconds

ohh and the ever unmerciful insanity spell tongue makes target attack their own party randomly for 30 ticks ( so the fotm builds can get a few swings in lol), if the target is solo it makes them drool on themselves for that duration lol

or the nasty bardic spell unmerciful tunes, it playes the song that never ends(with chipmunk voices) until they logoff lol

2-H weapons DO more damage than 1-H weapons. Your str adds more damage to it. Ive tested it out on stone trolls with my hammer user.
Using the flame manuver and a t3 warhammer i did about 250 hp to it. Using a t3 (something but its 2h) i did 300+Hp damage to it. But then again the smaller wep will hit more so more damg .

MORE ITEMS! In RoE we have really really low amount of items. There is no other game where players remember each item that is in game... we do... We need some variations of items, some random mods on them. For example earrings of strength +(5 to 15) str, or new items like 'something' +(5-15) random skill/attribute and +(5-15) another random skill/attribute. And they will drop at random so we could get like ring +12 camping +5 frist aid but also we will be able to get a ring +15 str +15 UA (and I think that item will be really valuable because of its rarity). So we will finally trade more, we could use our stored money for something else than DBP/rubies/norium...
